Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy epilepsy

Nathan was diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy.  When Nathan started attending Advance he was six years old and was on medication to control epilepsy and had previously had an operation on his hips.

Medication Free one year after TST

One year after starting Advance Nathan’s epilepsy abated and then ceased.  Nathan is now medication free; he has needed no further surgery to correct physical development, although his doctors had led us to expect Nathan would have more problems which are typical for a child with an acute form of cerebral palsy.  His physical structure is reviewed annually by a child development consultant and all tests show that Nathan is growing quite normally.

"Using limited speech"

With TST he has become very aware of his surroundings both at home and outside.  Nathan’s greatest advancement appears to be mental; he is now very communicative and begun to use limited speech with many different vocalisations to indicate preference and need.  He also learnt how to use body gestures and hand movements to convey preference and need.  Nathan has developed a healthy appetite and has gained a much stronger chewing action and a more controlled swallow.  He still can’t feed himself but he is showing signs that he might be able to do so in the future.  He can drink almost independently, he likes to impress us by unscrewing the milk bottle top and it is very impressive, especially when he attempts to screw the top back on.

"Nathan's determination seems endless"

This is indicative of Nathan’s determination to achieve and it seems endless and makes us feel that the time we spend doing Nathan's exercises is very precious.  “The Scotson Technique” is focused on promoting good structural development and mental awareness through improving breathing.  Nathan has exhibited good progress in both these areas and we are confident that this progress will continue.
